A Synthetic Happiness // Is An Authentic Nightmare

americanmaniaczc

An overly dramatic, and oftentimes cringey Ted Cruz erupted at CPAC yesterday, in a full force individual freedom focus speech against the new Leftist agendas of Biden’s America. Although I believe in the content of his speech, I can never quite tell whether or not I believe Cruz himself. I think he’s equal parts genuine, and opportunistic, which at this point in politics is a compliment.

For most of our leaders today are just plainly opportunistic, and allergic to authenticity, and herein lies the major problem with the political landscape and our American society as a whole. The goal for most individuals in these coming future generations is no longer a life of authenticity. The forced fed approved collective now reigns supreme.

As I write this it’s a dreary east coast rainy day, and I cannot help but feel sad by it all. No hyperbole, no dramatic literary effect, it’s actually sad. It’s also all too much. I woke up this morning rolled over, and within my first brief moments of being awake I opened up my phone and began watching this fiery speech for liberty that was carefully curated by under paid staffers for Ted Cruz. While he was speaking the truth, and mostly everything I believe in, I felt nothing. Then I felt annoyed. That's how I spent my first waking moments of a day in a short and fleeting life in the grand scheme of things. I sit here and preach individual freedom, anti-collectivism. I rage against communist like tendencies of cancel-culture, and maybe it’s all rooted in yearning for a deeper sense of existing.

How authentic is it to wake up and be spoon fed one’s already established personal truths by a cheesy Senator packaging deep thoughts into plastic pop culture politics at a conference. A conference?! Is there anything less individual, more collective, and less authentic then buying into the idea of a work conference. A giant think-tank sucking out the life of an already lifeless benign IKEA designed corporate hotel. A hotel with strategically large banquet space; that is surely booked up next week for the personal and casualty insurance conference. Focusing on something fake and made up like the future of diversity programs in the insurance industry.

How is CPAC and Ted Cruz’s lecture any different than some jerk standing up on the same stage next week preaching about the need for more affordable liability insurance in developing urban communities? Short answer, there is no difference. It’s all focus grouped, and corporatized. The depressing longer answer is we all spend the first beautiful waking moments of being alive in our beds shoveling this nonsense into our brains via our phones.

Ted Cruz's content of his speech was accurate, and it was something that truly happened in real time. Why does it then feel more like it was a man standing on stage plagiarizing reality? Spewing syllables in order to copy the concept of actually existing in an authentic manner.

Whether it be Ted, or AOC, or Biden’s skin suit--we have to stop letting these people live in our minds rent free. Next time you wake up and the thought is to reach for the phone, try laying down. Be still, or anxious, or both, and just think for yourself.
