Almost a year to the day-- July 20th, 2020 to be exact I wrote and documented through various sources about a growing trend of the burning down of Catholic Churches all across the United States in direct correlation with the erosion of our social cohesion as a nation on the heels of George Floyd’s death. Daily rioting was becoming the norm. Destruction of private and public property in the name of reconstructing our nation that was once built on pious liberty was quickly being perverted into a country based on equity through social unrest.
A year later and the rioting, looting, and unprosecuted murders all in the name of social justice have somewhat subsided throughout my home country of the US of A. Although now it has seeped to our lovely neighbors to the north. Catholic Canucks now mourning the loss of their places of worship all across their communities. And, just as I wondered who were these people burning down the churches last year, I sadly wonder again. Who are they, and for what reasons are they attacking the Catholic faith and the beauty of these historically old churches? But, as I write this and feel for the Clergy and observant Catholics across Canada I realize the answer to my questions are in the questions themselves. Which is always the case isn’t it? Especially if you believe in anything beyond the material world.
Ben Woodfinden: Burning down Catholic Churches, or any place of worship, must be condemned (msn.com)
Let’s break down my bewildering questions.
Who are they, and for what reasons are they attacking the Catholic faith and the beauty of these historically old churches?
Last year I angrily and narrowly chalked it up to the idiocy of the Millennial generation protesting George Floyd’s death in the name of progress and social justice. But, now as I think deeper into my simple detective-like questioning about the burning down of faith and history; I see the answer is simple. Hatred of Faith and History. This is nothing more or less than pure unbridled hatred towards people who are at peace with their lives, families, and history.
Humans, motivated by hate, are filled with hate because they hate themselves. Now humans that are full of faith, and love see being a good shepherd towards their community, friends, and family as the ultimate goal. They would never think to hate themselves because hating themselves would be the first step to letting everyone, and everything they so deeply care about down. Now the concept of burning down a place of worship, and sending a community of people full of joy and love into the throes of communal chaos would never enter the realm of thought for someone who knows no true hatred towards themselves.
As I chalked this up to politics and the exploitation of millennials last year, and although that may be a wrinkle in all of this, the true answer is Hate vs. Love. Humans are not inherently good, and hate can easily consume our animal instincts. That’s why these awful stories need to be shared. Because the more they are suppressed or casually denounced by the likes of Trudeau the more hate actually wins. These progressives obsess over rooting out hate--yet when there is the most simple and prime example of it they gloss right over it? Think about that. Truly think about all of this the next time you even attempt to give a modern progressive a pass for just being misguided. Do not damn the casual modernist observer for you will be no better than them. But always speak, and share the truth. Feverishly never back away from it. Otherwise churches and places of peaceful meditation will continue to burn.
