Family, Friends, and a Purpose. Among a Pandemic.

americanmaniaczc

The Corona-Virus, Covid-19 shake-down, lock-down, boogie-down as it seems has put people in two camps. The first camp: Are following the leaders of our society (Unless it’s Trump), and believing everything we are told. Acting as they most virtuously feel as the real adults in the room. Patient, dutiful American, and Global citizens. The second camp: A newly awakened populace of conspiracy theorists spouting things such as: “Yeah Alex Jones is still a psychopath... buuuut, listen to that Plandemic video, it’s totally true! And Flynn getting off is connected to not only this being fake; but everything that has happened in the last four years has been fake, and it’s all an international conspiracy to take Orange Man down.” Oh and it’s also to distract us from Jeffery Epstein either still being alive, or being murdered by the “real people in charge.” Yeah that’s a mouth full. Here’s a rule of thumb for you all. If it’s a mouthful to explain something, and you have no real connective tissue for said theory, it’s probably not true.

But, what if I were to tell you I believe it’s okay to exist, and still be a functional caring member of society, and not feel the need to belong to either camp. In fact, I encourage it. This is how much I encourage it, and where I think you need to start:

Stop reading, listening to, and watching anything about this virus. “What? How could you say such a thing?” “We need to know what’s going on!” “This is our future at stake here!”

Depending on what camp you subscribe to, our future seems to be only falling into two neatly packaged ideas.

1-To finally strive towards all the scientific, and societal progress we have always needed

2-Our civil liberties will be stripped away, and we will become a fascist Orwellian State. This Pandemic is Fake!

I started this blog joking about us getting soft, and turning into said Orwellian State, but now shit is getting off the rails. In the end both camps are full of it. First let's get to the protesting conspiracy "This is all fake," camp. Unless you’re willing to bring your infants, and children to these protests surrounded by thousands of people, or on the flip-side willing to go back to work full time, and possibly bring home this “fake-virus” to your wife, husband, and kids-then you’re really not being sincere, are you? If it's not a family matter that is on the line for what you believe to be so true, and self evident; then in the end you’re looking for attention, you’re bored, and you are getting stir crazy.

Now, “The Let's Stay Safe, and Quarantined for as long as possible camp.” Stop suggesting everyone in the other camp is a racist Trump supporter, who doesn't care if people die. That type of response, and thought process isn’t helping anyone. You’re also wrong. I would pose the same philosophical family values question to you? Are you at home still working? Do you have children to teach, financially support, and nurture? Or are you at home with no family, still working, and enjoying life? Either way it seems to be a simple class, and regional distinction that truly separates this argument, and the two camps. The protesters' livelihoods in the middle of the country require a reopening. The people who want to paint the protesters as bigot idiots, on the coasts their livelihood in most cases does not.

Ah, now all of that truly is the rub isn’t it?. The crux of my point.

Family, friends, and your purpose in life.

That’s all we should be focused on right now. So, next time a person who philosophically thinks differently than you, or lives differently than you, and expresses their frustrations differently from you. Take a minute to process it, and understand it. They are for the most part concerned with the same things in life as you are. Family, friends, and a purpose.

That’s why neither camp matters. Unless your family and friend’s lives are on the line. I’m sorry but anything else isn’t real life. It’s fashion, it’s a trend. It’s to gain attention from either side of the aisle. And, for what? I guess to achieve applause, and possibly the following of strangers on social media? What a shallow need for self congratulatory virtue signaling. Coming from both sides. Yeah it’s not only liberal snowflakes that virtue signal, it’s the tough guy right-wing as well. They just hide it better. Shouting “Reopen America without any limitations, this is all a hoax, and planned by the power elites!” In front of a city hall while you’re collecting unemployment plus a padded six hundred bucks to that, isn’t being a Patriot. It’s you showcasing your fear of the unknown, and that you desperately need there to be a calculated answer. No matter how HP Lovecraft your theory might end up being. On the flip side, all of you who are tucked away safe, and sound in an upper middle class neighborhood, with your upper middle class job that allows you to work remotely without question, how about you relax a bit. Are you still collecting a full paycheck, and feel fulfilled by having a purpose? Then perhaps you need to chill on the trolling of the unemployed, and the frustrated Americans out there. They are desperately searching for an answer, just as you are. Yes they may be aggressively questioning authority, and forcing people out of their box to stretch their minds a bit, about what could be possible; but what is so wrong with that? It’s not a sin to theorize. Sometimes it leads to the truth, sometimes it doesn’t. That’s it. Yet, we all know what the real deal is right? I hope. That the truth as it always has, and always will, lies smack dab right in the middle.

Now as difficult as it may be for you I ask you to just take a deep breath and acknowledge where the truth always lives. It essentially has a residency right in the center of all the shouting, and static. Right in the middle of all theories, per usual. No matter how boring that may be for you. You know it’s true. The camps don’t mean anything right now, and never will. But... Are you deeply entrenched? Do you feel you have already sworn an allegiance to one of them, and there’s no going back? Stop it. Knock it off, you’re not cosplaying here. It’s real life, it’s nuanced, and messy. Crack a beer, put a helmet on, work hard at your job, passion, or hobby, and get a good night’s sleep. Because what really matters at the moment is staying in touch with your friends, and family. Now stop reading conspiracy theories, and also stop taking MSNBC at their word. They are both wrong. However you felt without their influences in the very beginning of all of this is where the truth really lies.
