Go // Get Em' // Dave

Now I’m not an economist, and I’m not here to write a boring Wall St. Journal piece, but I will tell you this--fish guts stink, a hot dog at the ballpark is the closest thing you’ll get to God, and a cold beer in the middle of July is better than sex. That should be enough provable objective authority on my part where I hope you will allow me to rant and rave about the inner workings of the crooks on Wall Street.

When the truth is hidden, a concrete narrative quickly becomes as convenient as a gallon of milk from the local bodega. How interesting that is, is it not?

Most of the time objective facts within the subjective nature of history far too often fall into the grey abyss where it should be a black and white issue; the truth that is, not race. A quick historical example: Troops in the Middle East. That opinion solely lives in the grey dumpster of Hell. What do I mean by that? There is not just one snap judgement on it, there should be, but there is not. It’s a steaming grey turd, and all the while the two sides fight over the subjectivities of what should be at this point an objective truth. Unfortunately a fight like this will continue in history books till the end of time. A more benign example of this--the good old adage:

The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle...”

That is always such a nice little Reader Digest de-escalator is it not? A teeny weeny nothing-burger that old Granny will throw out to cool the hot tempered airs at a dinner table. Well you know what? Granny is full of shit. There is very rarely a majority of truth on the proverbially “two sides” to anything; just the cowardice of the truth holders wanting to placate the ill-advised side. It’s a human quality, and it’s generally admirable, except on issues such as whether or not there should be troops in the middle east. That kind of truth is as much in the middle as the sky is purple. Truth is funny that way. It’s weird, it should be mathematical, and yet it’s not. It's breezy, and wavy, and then the moment we all see it as breezy and wavy, and are willing for it not to be a rock, we are then told it’s a rock. Interesting.

Cue the newest saga of bullshit, an issue that would normally fall to the wayside. Why? Mostly because the talking heads who run every narrative, and all the people who just want to play nice would usually let it go; opting to rather discuss the Netflix doc they just watched that surely made them feel like a better person. Now I said “normally”-- so why is it that I don’t think it will happen this time? Because, ironically the retail stock trading app named Robinhood is about to get skewered by the real modern day Robin Hood-- Barstool Sports El Presidente Dave Portnoy. He’s currently exposing the app to be the Sheriff Nottingham to his real deal Robin of Locksley as he is non-stop fighting for the rights of Sherwood Forest: the retail day traders who got lambasted in the most out in the open economic screw job in American History. Not to mention he is leading this worthy crusade all while simultaneously doling out millions of dollars through his Barstool Fund to businesses being bankrupted by the other crooks--The United States Government.

This Wall St/Robinhood scandal is not just important due to its class system economic implications, there is a deeply existential pickle jar ready to explode in regards to the absolute truth versus absolute power. It's quite simple in the terms of whether or not we as a society are ready to live by absolute truth-- consequences be damned, and not absolute power. Do we want to enter a populist age of the real deal truth or would we like to stay in the comforts of our down blankets, cozy pillows, morning shows, and arrow and anchor tattoos? Because right now we are still in the past, and it’s a broken record. Just like the first track of a trusty LP that always seems to start with a slight scratch-- the truth being manipulated is right on cue. The idea of having two sides vanishing into thin air. For when the truth plays itself into the hands of the working class, and they get an appetizer of power, i.e. the truth on their side-- out of nowhere all of a sudden the narrative of facts lies dead in it's tracks. A bloody trail dragged through the omission of facts argument. How funny is it for that the moment truth is the most amiable, and complicated, it quickly becomes an immovable bronze statue.

“This is over your head. We did this to protect the consumer. The reddit thread is a bunch of Nazis.”

And...there’s the bronze statue of bullshit for this moment in time.

I know, there is no concrete evidence Crooked Scuba Stevey Cohen the newly minted messiah of the Mets was involved in freezing the GAMESTOP stock to fuck over the little guy, and there is no solidified evidence that the new Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen (Thank God she's a woman, glass ceilings ya’ll-even crooked ones!) was coordinating the entire effort from Washington facilitating communication between the SEC/The Power Brokers/ and The Fed in order to manipulate the newly rising populist stock; in order to restore order to the pirates of the economy the Hedge Funds. Nope nope. Nothing to see here, in fact there is nothing to see anywhere. Ever, per usual.

I used to be one of those guys that subscribed to that Hallmark card 11th grade History class lecture about the truth being somewhere in the middle. No more. What mediocre intellectual rubbish. Shallow minded linguistic tools of either people that are not curious, or unfortunately straight up nefarious in nature. I am neither. I am fiercely curious, and would love to see the naivety of the nefarious finally get taken to the cleaners.

Go Get Em' Pres.
